A former federal prosecutor has been sentenced to six months in prison for obstructing justice by coaching witnesses to lie to a grand jury in a fraud probe.
Chester L. Brown, 48, of Tarzana was convicted in May of one count each of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice. He had helped witnesses tailor their testimony in an investigation of George Scordel, who is serving 20 years in prison for masterminding an $8-million fraud scheme.
Brown faces possible suspension by the State Bar.
