PREP FOOTBALL : South Coast League : Dana Hills Sticks to Ground Game in Victory

Dana Hills High School used a ground attack for a 16-7 South Coast League victory over San Clemente Friday night in front of 3,000 at San Clemente.
The running of Matt Carvalho and Brandon Migge carried the Dolphins (2-4-1, 1-1), who attempted only 8 passes.
Carvalho, a junior fullback, was the game’s leading rusher with 80 yards in 20 attempts. Migge added 67 yards in 10 carries.
Dana Hills took the opening kickoff and went 76 yards in 13 plays for its first touchdown. Carvalho carried 6 times for 53 yards during the drive and scored on a 2-yard run with 6 minutes 10 seconds left in the first quarter. Ryan Harrison’s extra point gave Dana Hills a 7-0 lead.
The Dolphins increased their lead to 13-0 in the second quarter. Dana Hills took over at the San Clemente 29 after the Tritons failed to pick up a first down on a fourth-and-1 play.
Dana Hills drove to the San Clemente 4 and scored its second touchdown on a fake field goal. On fourth down, holder Josh Rivers threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to tight end Andy Marrone.
San Clemente (1-6, 0-2) scored its only touchdown in the third quarter on a 41-yard run by Marc Bohn.
Dana Hills added a 37-yard field by Harrison in the fourth quarter.
