Entertainer Merv Griffin expects to complete the purchase of Resorts International, Atlantic City, N.J., from developer Donald J. Trump sometime next week and has hired away the president of Harrah’s Marina Hotel & Casino to run Griffin Resorts Inc., the firm with which the current Resorts will merge. David Hanlon, 43, has served as president of Harrah’s East, a subsidiary of Holiday Corp., for the past four years. Before that, he worked for Caesars World.
As for the future of I. G. (Jack) Davis, current president of Resorts International, “that is something that will be discussed with Jack over the next few days,” said Thomas E. Gallagher, the New York attorney representing Griffin. Davis has been president of Resorts since 1960 and has a multiyear contract with the company for $1 million annually.
