A 22-year-old motorist was arrested on suspicion of felony manslaughter Thursday after he ran a red light and slammed into another vehicle, killing three people, including an 11-month-old boy, Los Angeles police said.
The victims were identified as Benjamin Rochel, 84; his wife, Asraf, 71, and their grandson, Jonathan Rochel, said officer Frank Zdroy of the Valley Traffic Division.
The boy’s mother, 27-year-old Fereshten Rochel, was taken to Tarzana Regional Medical Center after the 4 p.m. accident at Victory Boulevard and White Oak Avenue, Zdroy said. She was listed in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
All four are from Beverly Hills, Zdroy said.
Gregory Michael, 22, of Los Angeles was being held at the Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail, Zdroy said.
Witnesses told police that Michael was traveling west on Victory Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light and collided with the other vehicle, Zdroy said.
