COLUMBIA — Republican George Bush captured South Carolina’s eight electoral votes, bolstered by the influence of Gov. Carroll Campbell, his Southern campaign chairman.
With 92% of the votes counted, Bush had 62% or 540,965, and Michael S. Dukakis, 38% or 336,339.
