Brazilians voted in municipal elections expected to produce a massive rejection of the ruling centrist party now being blamed for the country’s 700% inflation. Political analysts said the nationwide elections will strengthen parties of the left and right at the expense of the center. Much attention has focused on the fast-growing Workers’ Party. The biggest prize in the elections is Sao Paulo, the country’s largest city, and three polls showed the Workers’ Party headed for victory there.
