YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK — With a snowstorm on the way, more than 100 people, five dog teams and three helicopters searched Wednesday for an 86-year-old hiker five days overdue from a trek up Half Dome.
Donald Buchanan of Mariposa was seen on the trail up Half Dome on Nov. 9, but no other sign of him has been found since the hunt for him began last Saturday.
A snowstorm was expected to hit the Yosemite area Wednesday night, said Lisa Dapprich, a park spokeswoman.
Buchanan had told friends he planned to return from the hike last Friday.
The missing man was described as a veteran outdoorsman, in good physical shape, who had been hiking and climbing in Yosemite and other mountain areas since the 1920s.
