A house fire that sent flames 50 feet into the air nearly destroyed one Laguna Beach home and damaged another Monday night in the 1300 block of Skyline Drive, Laguna Beach firefighters said.
No injuries were reported, although according to neighbors both homes were occupied at the time of the blaze, 6:25 p.m. They said firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to a clump of tall pine trees that separate the two houses.
An estimate of damage was not immediately available.
Based on a preliminary investigation, stored combustibles in a garage were believed to have caused the blaze, a fire spokeswoman said.
