Champagne Taste

Who is Hollywood’s most sumptuously fed actor when it comes to dining on-camera? Probably Joan Collins, whose tastes are apparently equal to those of her “Dynasty” alter ego, fabulously wealthy Alexis Carrington, according to star-feeder Bonnie Belknap.
“Joan demands the very best and she gets it,” said Belknap, founder of Gourmet Proppers Ltd., which produces much of the food to be eaten in numerous TV shows and movies. “She likes breakfast foods--toast points, papaya stuffed with gourmet raspberries and caviar omelets.”
Belknap tells us that Collins requires Beluga caviar at about $120 an ounce--”and she likes lots and lots of it”--with an Alexis Carrington breakfast costing producers perhaps $300 or more.
“Only Liz Taylor, during an appearance on ‘Hotel,’ demanded as much caviar,” Belknap recalled. “And that was for an upscale party for dozens of people.”
Other picky eaters: Kate Jackson (TV’s “Baby Boom”), with a macrobiotic diet; Charles Bronson, who insists on low-cal white-meat tuna and jumbo shrimp cocktails; and Mary Tyler Moore, a diabetic who must nibble from a special menu.
