A Coast Savings & Loan branch on Rosecrans Street was robbed Thursday afternoon, the latest in a record number of bank robberies this year in San Diego County.
A man described as Latino and in his 30s entered the bank at 1631 Rosecrans St. at 3:41 p.m. and presented a teller with a demand note written on pink paper, according to police spokesman Bill Robinson. The thief escaped on foot with more than $2,000, he said.
The robber was described as about 5 feet, 10 inches, 200 pounds, with short hair and a mustache and wearing a plaid shirt and a blue baseball cap. He has been identified as a suspect in at least one other bank robbery in San Diego, Robinson said.
