*To be machinable a package must be no more than 34 inches in length, 17 inches in width and 17 inches in height and weigh no more than 35 pounds; any parcels exceeding those dimensions or weight are considered non-machinable. Other non-machinable parcels are those with glass containers holding more than 24 ounces of liquid; insecurely wrapped and metal-banded parcels; wooden or metal boxes; rolls or tubes; shrubs or trees; books, business forms or other printed matter weighing more than 25 pounds; perishable items such as eggs; high density parcels that weigh more than 15 pounds and exert more than 60 pounds of pressure per square foot on the smallest side; cans; packages with metal or plastic containers holding one or more gallons of liquid, and film cases weighing more than 5 pounds or having strap-type closures, unless the case is deemed machinable by the Postal Service. Add a $1.15 surcharge for any non-machinable parcel.
