Court Of Appeal Sets Record at Los Alamitos

Undefeated 3-year-old filly Court Of Appeal trotted the fastest mile for her sex and age in Los Alamitos history Wednesday night, defeating nine California-bred fillies for a purse of $26,655.
Owned by Sara and Christo Bardis and trained and driven by James Grundy, Court Of Appeal completed the mile in 1:59 3/5, fastest of the meet. She won for the third time in her career with her second stakes victory.
Court Of Appeal was sent off as the 2-5 favorite and paid $2.80 across the board.
Singoalla, driven by Rick Kuebler, sat behind the dueling leaders and came on for second, paying $5.40 and $5.60. Canaveral Empress, who was following Court Of Appeal early, finished far back in third and paid $7.40. The $2 exacta from Court Of Appeal to Singoalla paid $13.40.
