A group of 128 Solidarity leaders and intellectuals led by Lech Walesa formed a civic committee to promote contact with Poland’s Communist leadership in an attempt to speed economic and political reforms. “We deplore that there has not been any progress in the past three months in the way of the negotiations,” the group said in a statement after a meeting in Warsaw.
