The Applause Award, one of the most prestigious honors in the amusement park industry, has been awarded to Knott’s Berry Farm for 1988.
Knott’s, in Buena Park, was chosen by a 12-member board of governors.
The award is presented to a park whose management, operations and creative accomplishments have “inspired” the industry.
In the past 6 years, Knott’s has finished a major refurbishment and expansion, including the addition of Camp Snoopy and two major rides--Kingdom of the Dinosaurs, added in 1987, and Bigfoot Rapids, which opened this year.
Previous award winners have included the Walt Disney Co. and Opryland Amusement Park.
