Cypress Defeats Central Florida for Fifth Place

Cypress College hit 7 of 11 shots from 3-point range Saturday en route to a 61-52 victory over Central Florida in the fifth-place game of the 16-team Mesa Rotary Shootout tournament.
Freshman forward Vince Hizon led the way for Cypress, (7-9, 3-1 in the tournament). Hizon scored a team-high 15 points and made 3 of 5 from 3-point distance. Sophomore guard Mike Varos scored 14 points and hit 4 of 5 3-point shots.
Andre Lamoureux scored 13 points for Cypress, which built a 32-25 halftime lead and was never seriously threatened in the second half.
Central Florida fell to 10-7.
