Two Orange County computer companies, Western Digital and MAI Basic Four, are among 1,116 corporations included in Forbes magazine’s 41st Annual Report on American Industry.
Forbes said companies selected for its list were either too large to quality for the magazine’s annual 200 Best Small Companies in America ranking, or too small to be included in the Forbes 500. The companies had to have minimum revenue of $400 million during the latest 12 months.
Western Digital was one of 14 electronics equipment companies included on the Forbes list. The Irvine personal computer products firm ranked third in sales growth with a 5-year annual average of 72%.
It ranked eighth in return on equity--a key measure of profitability--with a 5-year average of 16%.
Tustin-based MAI ranked 24th among 28 computer makers on the Forbes list with a 5-year average sales growth of 4%. The magazine did not rank MAI in the return on equity category.
