McCathron to Attend Oregon State

Rick McCathron, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound offensive tackle from Thousand Oaks High, verbally committed Wednesday to accept a scholarship from Oregon State, Thousand Oaks Coach Bob Richards said.

McCathron, who took a trip to New Mexico as well as Oregon State, was a Times All-Ventura County selection this season and was regarded as the top offensive lineman in the Marmonte League.

“Rick liked the coaches and the school and he really wanted to play in the Pac-10,” Richards said. “Oregon State gives him that chance.”
