THE CRUELTY QUESTION

The person who said that keeping animals as pets is exploitative is ignorant about at least one species of animal. Having had many cats over the years, I have learned enough about their body language and other behavior to state unequivocally that cats like people much better than they do other cats. Cats are so fond of their people that, when the family moves off and leaves one, it is desolate.
Perhaps those individuals who take extreme positions about what constitutes cruelty to animals should learn more about animals so that these people can give intelligent love to animals instead of being foolishly sentimental.
