The Nation : Disgruntled Worker Kills 3, Self at Bank

A gunman described as a disgruntled employee of Chevy Chase Federal Savings Bank in Bethesda, Md., opened fire with a .38-caliber revolver in the bank’s credit card center on the seventh floor, killing three co-workers and shooting a fourth in the face before killing himself, police said. Emanuel Tsegaye, 33, a native of Ethiopia, was described by police Officer George Ludington as “a disgruntled current employee” of the bank, but he was unable to say why Tsegaye was angry. Two co-workers said Tsegaye had argued with a female supervisor that morning about a personal telephone call he had made from the office. The supervisor was not among the wounded. Tsegaye collected credit card debts by telephone for the bank.
