College Basketball Roundup : Long Beach Women Roll Past Titans

Penny Toler scored 18 points to lead Cal State Long Beach to a 71-54 victory over Cal State Fullerton in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Thursday at Fullerton.
It was the 38th consecutive conference victory for Long Beach, the ninth-ranked team in the nation.
Cheryl Dowell scored 12 points and Angelique Lee and Traci Waits scored 11 each for Long Beach (21-4 overall, 13-0 in conference play). Lee led Long Beach with 10 rebounds and Dowell had 7.
Kathy Werth scored 13, Felica Benson 12 and Jill Matyuch had 10 for Fullerton (18-6, 10-5). Belson led the Titans with 10 rebounds.
Fullerton was plagued by poor shooting, making only 23 of 59 shots (39%). Long Beach hit on 33 of 73 (45%).
In California Collegiate Athletic Assn. women’s basketball:
Chapman 78, Cal State Northridge 69--Kim Riff and Julie King scored 20 points each to lead the Panthers (11-11, 7-3) at Chapman. The Panthers shot 51% from the field compared to 37% for Northridge (17-7, 5-4). Jackie Saunders had 10 rebounds for Chapman. Julie Arlotto scored 21 points for Northridge.
In the national Christian College Athletic Assn. Division II regional men’s playoffs:
Pacific Christian College 115, Life Bible 41--Mike DeVries scored 25 points and Mike Vincent added 22 to lead Pacific Christian in a first-round game at Valencia High School.
