How About a Council Potluck?
In reference to your article, “Taxpayers Pay Up When Whittier Council Eats Out,” (Times, Jan. 29), my understanding of the use of tax monies is that they should be used for growth and development of the city and the health and welfare of the community in general, not the fat bellies of the politicians.
I wholeheartedly agree with former (Councilwoman) Sabina Schwab that the taxpayers should not pay for council meals, and offer the following suggestion to get the taxpayers off the hook:
If City Manager Thomas G. Mauck and company can’t manage to eat before the City Council meeting, they could have a potluck dinner at City Hall, which will result in saving time, money and maybe pounds.
Keep up the good work. We average citizens have no way of knowing of these abuses unless the press brings it to our attention.
