“I hope there’s interest in it,” says author Joseph Wambaugh about the movie version of his latest book, “The Blooding” (about England’s brutal Narborough village murders). “But having been around the business for a while, I know who the audience is--people between 15 and 32. If there’s not a part in it for Tom Cruise, there won’t be big studio interest.” But Wambaugh, who converted seven of his past books into screenplays and says he likes to “get involved with the production” to ensure it maintains “some of the book’s integrity,” is hopeful. “Film makers listen to me now because I’m easier to get along with than I used to be,” he told United Press International. “I’m more mature and I don’t drink as much.”
