A 21-year-old Saugus man was charged Tuesday in a robbery in which he threatened to blow up a Valencia jewelry store, authorities said.
Ronald A. Walker was charged with two counts of robbery stemming from the Feb. 17 incident at Zales in the 25800 block of McBean Parkway.
Walker surrendered to Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies Friday after he was identified as one of two robbers who escaped from the store with $184,000 in jewelry.
The second suspect, Tony Perrone, 22, of Newhall, was also charged with robbery Tuesday. He is still being sought by authorities. About $100,000 in jewelry has not been recovered.
Deputies said Walker entered the store and placed a walkie-talkie and a package containing what appeared to be dynamite on a counter. He left the store and instructed two saleswomen by radio to fill a bag with jewelry.
Afterward, deputies said, he took the bag and the package and escaped on a motorcycle driven by Perrone. Walker was being held in County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
