A pickup truck careened out of control on Highway 30 in San Dimas Tuesday, plowing into a California Highway Patrol officer and a driver he had stopped for a traffic ticket, authorities said.
The officer was knocked off a bridge, falling nearly 40 feet to the road below. He suffered two broken arms, a broken leg and head injuries.
The motorist he had stopped was crushed by the pickup and may lose both of his legs, Los Angeles County Fire Department spokeswoman Arden Beer said.
