RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — Ricardo Franca scored in the first minute of the second half and Leonardo Nascimento de Araujo scored with 21 minutes left today as Brazil beat the United States, 2-0, in the third-place game of the World Youth Cup.
Franca scored when he took a soft, floating pass from De Araujo and sent a strong left-footed shot into the goal.
De Araujo scored on a 22-yard shot past a diving Kasey Keller, the U.S. goalkeeper.
Nigeria and Portugal were to meet in the finals of the tournament for players under 19 years of age.
