Vandals broke through gates and clipped transmission wires at four radio stations in Santa Maria, forcing them off the air, said officials who were puzzled by the mysterious sabotage. “We figure there must be a common denominator someplace, but so far, we don’t know what it is,” said Detective Ed McCauley of the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department. Vandalized were KGVP-AM, a Christian radio station; KUHL, an AM and FM station, and KSNI-FM and sister station KSMA-AM.
