Local News in Brief : Sunset Beach : Victims Identified in Party Murder-Suicide

The man who shot his former girlfriend to death, then killed himself Sunday outside a bar has been identified as Steve Mosqueda, 49, of Sunset Beach. Police identified the woman as Patricia Cannon, 41, of Sunset Beach.
The shooting occured in the parking lot at Turc’s on Pacific Coast Highway, where patrons were holding a party to raise money for a bartender stricken with cancer.
Police said Mosqueda arrived at the party about 3:50 p.m., began arguing with Cannon, his former girlfriend, then pulled out a revolver, shot her once in the head, then shot himself in the head.
About 75 people attended the fund-raiser. No other injuries were reported.
