Inn to Become College

Santa Paula’s Glen Tavern Inn, a 1911-vintage Ventura County landmark, has been sold to a Japanese business college for slightly more than $2 million.
Tokyo Business College, which has 13 campuses in Japan and branches in Seoul and Taipei, will convert the Craftsman-style hotel into a residential Center for Western Studies where up to 100 business students will learn the English language and Western culture in 90-day seminars, director Sue Ellen Arimitsu said.
“We’re very happy with the site,” she said. “The building is beautiful and Santa Paula is a typical American small town . . . we got a nice reception from the city.”
