BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The NCAA has notified Western Kentucky University that it will not investigate allegations against its basketball program that surfaced in a newspaper article.
In a letter dated last Wednesday and released by the university today, David Berst, assistant executive director for enforcement, said the NCAA enforcement staff concluded that insufficient reliable information was available.
The Courier-Journal in Louisville reported last August that eight former Western basketball players said they received cash, clothes or other improper benefits through boosters and coaches while they were on the team.
