A motorcyclist was killed on a curving canyon road when he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a car, the California Highway Patrol said Sunday.
Randal Ross, 25, of Riverside was fatally injured when he was thrown from his motorcycle about 4:40 p.m. Saturday, CHP dispatcher Joe David said.
Ross, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling about 50 m.p.h. on Modjeska Grade Road, east of Santiago Canyon Road, in the hilly area north of O’Neil Regional Park. He failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the eastbound lanes, David said. The motorcyclist collided with a 1987 Honda Accord traveling about 15 m.p.h. that was driven by Henry McFalls, 66, of El Toro, the CHP said.
McFalls was not injured. The collision is being investigated, David said.
