A Panorama City woman who was arrested in Chicago in the shooting deaths of her former boyfriend and his new girlfriend has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, Deputy Dist. Atty. Stephen Baron said today.
Authorities said Charisse Lewis, 33, admitted shooting Jewel Prude, 34, the man with whom she had lived for two years, and Shirley Marie Johnson, 35, in Panorama City last July 17.
Lewis was arrested when she sought treatment for sickle-cell anemia. Authorities had issued a nationwide alert to hospitals throughout the country because they believed that Lewis would seek treatment for the disease. She was arrested in October.
Lewis was originally charged with first-degree murder, but authorities reduced the charge in a plea agreement. She will be sentenced April 11.
