An Inglewood plainclothes officer was shot and seriously wounded when he and other officers apparently interrupted a robbery at an adult book store on Hawthorne Boulevard late Monday, fellow officers reported.
Officers were searching for suspects in the area backed up by search dogs and helicopters, Sgt. Bill Thompson said. Identification of the officer was withheld pending notification of relatives.
“The hospital tells us that he was hit in the stomach but that no vital organs were damaged,” Thompson said.
