College Roundup : UCLA Defeats Titans, 9-6, in 12 Innings

Robbie Katcaroff had six hits, including a bases-loaded triple in the top of the 12th, as UCLA defeated Cal State Fullerton, 9-6, Tuesday in a nonconference baseball game at Fullerton.
The Bruins (23-26) loaded the bases with two outs in the 12th off reliever Chris Robinson (5-4). Katcaroff then tripled to right field to break a 6-6 tie. Katcaroff also had a double and five runs batted in.
The Titans (29-21) tied the score, 5-5, in the ninth on a double by Brent Mayne.
In the Golden State Athletic Conference:
Southern Cal College 4-24, Cal Baptist 2-16 (second game, 10 innings)--Southern California College scored eight runs in the 10th inning of the second game for a sweep at Cal Baptist. SCC (27-19, 14-7) had 26 hits off eight Cal Baptist pitchers. Kevin Kasper had four hits for SCC.
In the Big West Conference golf tournament:
Randy Bridge shot a seven-over par 223 as Fresno State won its fourth consecutive conference championship at the Big Canyon Country Club in Newport Beach.
Fresno State shot a 907 over the three-day tournament to edge San Jose State, which shot a 911. Cal State Long Beach was third (920) and Nevada Las Vegas fourth (923).
UC Irvine shot a 932 to finish sixth. The Anteaters’ Lyle Archer shot a 225 to finish tied for third with John Miller of San Jose State.
In Big West Conference softball:
Cal State Fullerton 4-5, UC Santa Barbara 2-0 (first game, nine innings)--In the second game, Fullerton’s Ann Van Dortrecht (17-6) pitched a no-hitter at Santa Barbara. In the first game, Nikki Lewis and Jill Matyuch each had RBI singles in the ninth to give the Titans (44-12, 26-8) the lead.
