Nordiques Buy Out Anton Stastny’s Contract

QUEBEC CITY — The Quebec Nordiques announced Thursday they have bought out the contract of right wing Anton Stastny.
“Anton Stastny was very helpful to us,” General Manager Martin Madden said in a statement. “He provided our fans with a lot of excitement, but we felt it was time for both parties to separate.”
In 650 NHL regular-season games, Stastny, 29, had 252 goals and 384 assists. In 66 playoff games, he added 20 goals and 32 assists.
