King Glorious Is Beaten--First Time in Seven Starts

ALBANY, Calif. — Avenging Force upset King Glorious by 1 1/4 lengths in the $100,000 Gold Rush Handicap for 3-year-olds Saturday at Golden Gate Fields.
It was King Glorious’ first defeat in seven outings.
Avenging Force, ridden by Roberto Gonzalez, rallied inside of King Glorious, ridden by Chris McCarron, on the final turn and stuck his head in front at the top of the stretch. The two colts battled on even terms until the sixteenth pole, where Avenging Force drew away.
Avenging Force was timed in 1:41 1/5 for 1 1/16 miles and earned $55,000. He returned $19.20, $2.80 and $2.10; King Glorious paid $2.20 and $2.10, while Timeless Answer, two lengths back, paid $2.10.
