TV RATINGS : In Love With Jessica Again

Millions of American TV viewers fell in love with Jessica McClure all over again Sunday, ratings from the A.C. Nielsen Co. showed Tuesday. ABC’s movie about the little girl’s rescue from an abandoned Texas well in 1987 was the most-watched program of the week, attracting an audience of 20.7 million homes. NBC, however, handily won the weekly score card, boosting its record winning streak to 48 weeks. The full list of ratings is on Page 11.
* While ABC’s viewers were cheering the rescue of little Jessica Sunday night, NBC’s were being treated to a carnival of carnage on the last episode of “Miami Vice.” The two-hour installment, which featured about 30 people getting killed before the police-detective heroes turned in their badges and left town, finished second in the time period with an audience of about 13.3 million homes.
