Regarding the demise of “Moonlighting.” When a show insults the intelligence of its audience, the viewer will be turned off. After Maddie Hayes went to Chicago, the story line began to strain credulity. Her marriage to a stranger was inexplicable. And the forward flow of the story line was interrupted by reruns upon reruns. Thus by the time Maddie had returned to the office, the show’s dynamic magic had disappeared.
