Mary Slaney has decided not to compete in Saturday’s Prefontaine track and field meet at Eugene, Ore., because her injured left Achilles’ tendon has not recovered sufficiently for her to run. However, she has confirmed that she will run in the McDonald’s Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational scheduled June 10 at UCLA’s Drake Stadium.
