TV RATINGS : NBC Comedies Lead the Second Time Around
- Share via
Reruns didn’t dissuade viewers from tuning to their favorite programs last week. The A.C. Nielsen Co. ratings released Tuesday were topped by the same comedies that showed up there during the season, and NBC was in its familiar No. 1 position among the networks--for a record 50th week in a row. The “NBC Nightly News” ran third, however, with ABC’s “World News Tonight” on top. The full list of ratings is on Page 8.
* If Broadway isn’t dying, its TV ratings certainly are. CBS’ annual coverage of “The Tony Awards” attracted only 16% of the available audience Sunday night--about 8.4 million households, compared to 13.1 million for the TV movie “Shannon’s Deal” on NBC and 11.6 million for a rerun of “Little Girl Lost” on ABC.
