Six suspected gang members were arrested Tuesday in early morning raids mounted in response to a recent attack on sheriff’s deputies, authorities said.
About 90 deputies were involved in the raids, serving search warrants at seven homes in the Lennox area of South-Central Los Angeles beginning about 6 a.m., Deputy Roger Hom said.
Among the six arrested were two men suspected of shooting at deputies and others in a May 21 incident, Hom said. The two were booked on suspicion of attempted murder.
The deputies were not injured in the fusillade, but other three people were wounded, Sgt. Gib Anderson said.
The shooting erupted while the deputies were detaining six suspected gang members and had them lined up against a patrol car, Anderson said. At least two gunmen started shooting from another part of the street.
Of the six suspects arrested Tuesday, one was booked on suspicion of possession of cocaine; another was taken into custody on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and another was booked on a parole violation, Hom said.
