Utts Extends Lead at Ventura Raceway

Charles Utts of Camarillo won the 15-lap Street Stock oval main event, an eight-lap heat race and the trophy dash Friday night at Ventura Raceway before 2,800 spectators, expanding his oval-track points lead.

Tom Stephens of Ventura and Jim Firsich of Port Hueneme finished second and third in the Street Stock race.

Bill Floyd of Ventura captured the 20-lap Mini Stock main event, negotiating a 23-car field. Oxnard’s Jim Jewett took second and Rock Ake of Moorpark finished third.

West Hills’ John Christianson won his second consecutive Street Stock figure 8 main event and Ventura’s Cory Kruseman won the Mini Stock figure 8 for his first main event victory of the season.
