Houston Mayor Will Seek Record-Tying Fifth Term

HOUSTON — Mayor Kathy Whitmire announced Monday she is seeking a record-tying fifth consecutive term and told a cheering crowd of 350 supporters she will make battling the drug problem her top priority if elected. Whitmire’s entry brings the number of candidates in the Nov. 7 nonpartisan field to at least five.
