New Name for Rice Brand: The Rice Growers Assn. of California has nearly three months to come up with a new name for its Hinode California Harvest brand. The Hinode California Harvest brand name for long-grain rice will disappear from grocery shelves by Sept. 25 under an agreement reached in a trademark infringement case. The agreement, subject to approval by a federal judge, will end legal action by Pacific International Rice Mills Inc. of Woodland against the association, a grower-owned co-op.
