Firefighters battled a brush fire that briefly threatened homes before it was contained to four acres late Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The blaze was reported in the 34300 block of Dana Strand Road at 3:50 p.m., according to Orange County Fire Department spokesman Leo Schneider.
Some structures were briefly endangered near Cove Road and Street of the Green Lantern, but quick action by the Fire Department doused the blaze in that area, Schneider said.
The fire was declared contained at 5:15 p.m. Schneider said. Five engine companies responded to the alarm, while sheriff’s deputies cordoned off the area to onlookers.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
