The New York Mets are reported to be pursuing pitcher Frank Viola and talking trade with the Minnesota Twins.
The Mets, trying to fill the void left by Dwight Gooden’s injury, would like to get Viola for three pitchers--Rick Aguilera, David West and Kevin Tapani.
Viola, 29, born in New York and a star at St. John’s University, has struggled for Minnesota this season. He is 8-11 with a 3.64 earned-run average.
