Bell Gardens : Fair Housing Pact Renewed
For the eighth straight year, Bell Gardens has contracted with the nonprofit Fair Housing Foundation of Long Beach to run a city program that combats discrimination in housing.
The City Council approved the one-year, $3,000 contract last week, City Manager Claude Booker said.
The Fair Housing Foundation handles complaints of discrimination, mediates landlord-tenant conflicts, provides referrals to other agencies, sponsors community awareness programs and verifies low-income renters’ eligibility for federal rent subsidies.
