Santa Ana : Woman Arrested in Hit-and-Run Death

A 20-year-old Santa Ana woman was arrested Thursday morning in connection with the hit-and-run death Wednesday night of a 45-year-old transient trying to cross a busy street.
The woman, Shannon Von Burns, was taken to County Jail where she was being held on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and manslaughter, according to Santa Ana police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas.
The man, identified as Richard Eugene Welch of no known address, was struck and killed in a crosswalk on West MacArthur Boulevard at Bristol Street at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses identified the vehicle that struck him as a beige pickup truck.
