Tropical Storm Off Mexico Now Hurricane

MEXICO CITY — Tropical storm Isabel turned into a hurricane, packing gusts of up to 98 m.p.h. off Mexico’s west coast, the government news agency Notimex reported Thursday.
Notimex quoted Mexico’s national weather service as saying that Isabel became a hurricane Wednesday night and was 150 miles west of the Pacific coast.
The weather service said that the hurricane was slowly moving west and posed no threat to coastal cities such as Acupulco and Ixtapa.
