A sheriff’s deputy in Malibu was injured early Saturday when he was run over by a car while questioning two purse-snatching suspects on Pacific Coast Highway, according to police.
Sgt. Barry Wulwick was airlifted to UCLA Medical Center, where he was reported in stable condition.
Authorities said Wulwick and his partner were questioning two suspects when a white Monte Carlo parked nearby suddenly revved up its engine and headed for Wulwick, striking him.
Police chased the car for several miles before it stopped because of engine trouble. The seven people inside, including the two original purse-snatching suspects, were booked on attempted murder and robbery charges, police said.
