Which Way to Go on the Long Beach Freeway?

“Freeway: Link to Community Disaster” is right on, pointing out that the proposed 6.2-mile extension of the Long Beach Freeway is not only a Band-Aid but a breeder--of more and more cars, more and more pollution, less and less serenity.
Before I became mayor pro-tem of Culver City (1970-74), our community’s borders (most western) had already been bisected by the San Diego Freeway. This was a minor disruption compared to what the Freeway Fates have in store for lovely South Pasadena. The noise fall-out extends all the way up the hillside to Culver Crest, an unmistakable hum-m-m that the early a.m. walker/jogger can rely on as a timepiece.
There are circumstances where freeway add-ons may be justified, but South Pasadena is definitely not one of them. The only way to stop this nonsense is to just say no. And no, thanks.
